About

Christine Pfister was born and raised in Switzerland, before moving to the United States. She studied Business Administration in Fribourg, Switzerland. In New York, she studied at Christie’s Education at Christie’s and since 1995 she has been the Co-Owner and Director of Pentimenti Gallery in Philadelphia. Pentimenti Gallery features content driven contemporary art which challenges traditional materials and aesthetics by a line of internationally established artists alongside young talent. The gallery’s exhibitions were reviewed in major publications, such as Art in America, The Art Economist, Timeout New York, the Brooklyn Rail, USA Today, Philadelphia Magazine, Philadelphia Inquirer, and more. The gallery has exhibited nationally at various international art fairs, most recently at Pulse NY, Volta NY, Art Miami Context, etc.

She has also given many lectures, and participated on panels, in the Philadelphia area. Lectures include the University of Pennsylvania, the University of the Arts, the American Association of Museums, and more. She is active in a variety of Swiss, cultural and professional organizations including: Consular Corps Association of Philadelphia;  CFEVA; The Cercle Professionnel de Philadelphie; the New Helvetic Society; The Maurice Rohrbach Fund and the Swiss Benevolent Society. In 2011, Ms. Pfister was appointed Honorary Consul of Switzerland to Philadelphia and western Pennsylvania.

Services

  • REPRESENTATION: At events and public functions, the Honorary Consul acts as a representative of Switzerland. The Honorary Consul is a volunteer who help safeguard the interest of Switzerland, as well as further the development of commercial, economic, cultural and scientific relations between Switzerland and the host country.
  • COMMERCIAL WORK: The Honorary Consul acts as liaison between Swiss / US institutions and local businesses, helping to establish joint-cooperation between commercial and non commercial organizations in both countries.
  • EMERGENCY ASSISTANCE: The Honorary Consul can help support Swiss Nationals in emergency situations.

The Honorary Consul is not in charge of any administrative duties, such as visa work, passports, etc. Swiss Nationals who need consular assistance should contact their designated Consulate directly.
