About
Mr. Winanto Adi assumed his duties as the Consul General of the Republic of Indonesia in New York on October 31, 2022.
In this role, Mr. Adi represents Indonesia’s bilateral interests and consular representation in 15 states in the East Coast of the United States of America (Connecticut, Delaware, Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, North Carolina, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, South Carolina, Vermont, Virginia, and West Virginia).
As a career diplomat, Mr. Adi joined the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Indonesia in 1993. His overseas assignments include working at the Consulate General of the Republic of Indonesia in Frankfurt am Main, Germany (2001-2004), the Embassy of the Republic of Indonesia in Nairobi, Kenya (2007-2011) and the Consulate General of the Republic of Indonesia in New York, USA (2015-2019).
In Jakarta, he was assigned to the Directorate General of ASEAN Cooperation (1995- 2000), the Directorate of Central and South Asia Cooperation (2004-2006) and the Bureau of Human Resource Management (2011-2015).
He has held several high-ranking positions at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Indonesia:
- Acting Head of the Center for Education and Training (2022)
- Acting Head of the Bureau of Planning and Organization (2022)
- Head of the Bureau of Human Resource Management (2020-2022)
- Secretary of the Directorate General of Protocol and Consular Affairs (2019-2020)
Mr. Adi was born in Solo, Central Java, Indonesia and holds a Bachelor’s degree from Universitas Gadjah Mada in international relations (1992) and a Master’s degree in European Studies from the London School of Economics and Political Science (1999). He is married and has three children.
