About

 

A career diplomat, with large experience in Government Affairs and International Relations, Ambassador Ganem has been the new Consul General of Brazil in New York since May 1st, 2023.

Graduated in Law, Ambassador Ganem continued his Post-Graduate studies in International Relations and International Economic Affairs at Brazilian Diplomatic Academy and New York University.

He was Professor of International Economic Relations at FAAP University and Mackenzie University in São Paulo in the Master Course of International Relations.

In Brazil, he was Diplomatic and Economic Advisor to Vice President of the Republic Marco Maciel, from 1995 to 1999, Secretary of International Relations of São Paulo, from 2003 to 2007, and Diplomatic Advisor to the Senate Commission of External Relations, from 2019 to 2020. He participated in the process of Government transition as Special Advisor to Vice President of the Republic Geraldo Alckmin, from November 2022 to March 2023.

Abroad, he was also Consul General of Brazil in Atlanta, Miami and San Francisco, Brazilian Ambassador to Panama, Chargé d’Affaires in Paris, Brazilian Representative to OECD, Brazilian Delegate to the European Commission in charge of textile and steel negotiations, and Director of Brazilian Trade Office in New York and Lima, Peru.

Besides those positions, he participated in innumerous Presidential missions and international meetings at the United Nations, the OAS and other multilateral organizations.

He is married to Hosana Bittencourt Senna Ganem, previous representative of Brazil before the United Nations Organization for Industrial Development and International Director of São Paulo Chamber of Commerce and of Brazilian Medium and Small Companies Agency. He has three daughters: Ana Carolina Izaga de Senna Ganem, Danielle Ganem LeWinter and Paula Ganem.
