GEORGE SFEDU PORTRAIT 003 smallerGeorge P. Sfedu, Treasurer, is the Honorary Consul General of Romania since 2001. He served as President, Vice-President, Secretary and Treasurer for the Consular Corps Association of Philadelphia. He arrived in Philadelphia in 1980 as a Political Refugee from communist Romania and lived ever since in Philadelphia. He studied in German (Kindergarten through Lyceum), Romanian (College) and in English for his Master’s Degree in International Business Administration, at Temple University – Fox School of Business. He is also fluent in French, Italian and Spanish. Mr. Sfedu’s professional career was concentrated, mainly, in the International Chemical Industry as an International Executive for Pennwalt Corp. and Arkema of France and as an International Consultant and Chemicals Broker. He globalized product lines and negotiated multi-million dollar contracts on all continents. In addition to his consular duties, Mr. Sfedu is still active in the international business area and is involved in the Romanian-American community. He sits on the board of cultural non-profits. He is married to a Philadelphia lawyer and has two children.
